Collins Replaces Underwood on Practice Squad

The New York Jets signed cornerback Manny Collins to the practice squad and released cornerback E.J. Underwood from the practice squad. The announcement was made by Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum.

Collins (5'10", 190) was signed by the Jets as an undrafted rookie free agent Aug. 2, waived Sept. 1, then signed to the Jets' practice squad Sept. 3 before being released Oct. 10. He recorded 68 tackles, two interceptions and four fumble recoveries during four seasons at Rutgers University.

Underwood (6'1", 185) was signed to the practice squad Oct. 10. He originally signed with the New York Giants as a rookie free agent May 13, 2006, and spent the 2006 season on injured reserve. He was signed to the Giants' practice squad Sept. 2 before being released Oct. 8. The Hamilton, Ohio, native played three years at Ohio State before transferring to Pikeville College (NAIA).
