Hey, Flight Crew Fans! Happy Holidays!
Having and maintaining healthy hair, skin and nails can be a challenge. Luckily, I was able to learn a few tricks to implement in my daily routine that made these things easier throughout my rookie year. A combination of diet, exercise and maintenance is the perfect solution to get the hair, skin and nails of your dreams, and it can be fun and simple!
There are a few things you will need to do to achieve healthy hair. Blow-drying, straightening, curling and putting chemicals in your hair cause major damage. Therefore a few steps need to be taken to bring your hair back to life.
For starters, getting a trim regularly allows the hair to grow longer and healthier. This removes the damaged ends, leaving your hair feeling smooth. Before styling your hair, use special heat-protecting sprays and serums specific to your hair type. (Make sure to use a product that is just right for you.) Conditioning treatments should be applied once every couple of days or weeks depending on how much damage you do to your hair. Also, switch up your hair products periodically so that your hair doesn't become "immune," and then go back to using it again.
To have the healthiest skin, possible you must exfoliate your face and body regularly. This takes off dead skin cells and leaves your skin silky smooth and healthy. Shower with moisturizing soaps that do not dry out skin and apply lotion after every shower. Use a facial moisturizer for your face. (This prevents breakouts that normal body lotions can cause.) Moisturizing your skin regularly helps prevent dry skin and stretch marks. Wash your face every morning when you wake up and at night before going to bed to remove makeup buildup and to unclog pores. When removing makeup, use soft downward strokes with makeup remover under the eyes to prevent pulling the delicate skin. This helps prevents future wrinkles and irritation.
Finally, it is possible to have beautiful, strong nails without having to go to the nail salon. Start by not cutting off your cuticles and instead push them back. Apply nail growth serums and vitamin-enriched polishes to help grow healthy, thick nails. Before painting your nails, apply a primer and/or base coat to keep them from turning yellow. And again, moisturize hands daily to keep your nail beds hydrated.
We are not done yet! Here are a few beauty do's and don'ts to consider throughout your day:
Do's
Hydrate! You must drink a lot of water throughout your day. Water keeps you hydrated and healthy and helps your skin stay clear.
Eat healthy! Maintaining a nutritious diet helps keep skin, hair and nails vibrant and strong, so make sure to eat plenty of fruits, vegetables and proteins.
Take your vitamins! Certain vitamins help maintain skin elasticity and prevent dryness and wrinkles.
Don'ts
You must avoid smoking, drinking and most greasy foods. They are harmful and can help undo all of your hard work!
