Hey, Jets Fans! As some of you may know, I have been an established hair stylist for a little over 6 years, working in salons throughout the East Coast. I've been so lucky to learn from and work with some of the best in the business, such as Mary Brunetti, and working as protégé to celebrity hair stylist Tim Rogers at the Sharon Dorram Color at Sally Hershberger salon.
Proper styling can make or break your hair cut and overall look, so I put together a list of my all-time favorite products ranging from "top shelf" to less expensive "drugstore" alternatives!
I always say, "You wear your hair every day." It deserves a little time and attention, so be sure to take care of it and make it a great style!
Nioxin (Shampoo, Conditioner & Scalp Spray): A great way to see if this is for you would be to try their "starter kit" running about $20. Be sure to pick the right system depending on your hair type (1-6)! This works from the roots — a healthier scalp makes for healthier hair! After about 3 months I began to notice new hair growth and fuller, thicker hair! An added plus: I was able to go extra days between washes and it's great for both sexes!
Jonathan Green Rootine Dry Shampoo Brush On Powder: I like a "brush-on" rather than "spray-ons" or loose powder. This cleanses and refreshes without the use of water, absorbing oil, dirt and pollutants for in-between washes. And you can pick it up at your local pharmacy!
Shaper Plus by Sebastian: My "go to" hairspray for everything from up-do styles to daily wear. It's a brushable, light-weight, flake-free hairspray that still has a solid, strong hold! Also, the "Plus" stands for an added anti-humidity agent!
Kerastase Fiber Architected Renovating Dual Serum: A repairing cream and binding serum in one for damaged lengths and split ends, leaving hair feeling reinforced and stronger. Use this wet or dry and it leaves a shiny finish without an oily residue.
Kerastase Nectar Thermique: A nourishing "leave-in" treatment and prep. product that protects hair from the heat of styling tools. It adds intense moisture, smoothness and shine.
Sedu Revolution Blow Dryer: It's compact, has a super long cord, cool shot, heat settings, and the blast power of a twin turbo for anyone who has tried one!
Boar Bristle Round Brush: Monroe or Marilyn has a great one. Using the proper brush is key for smoothed and polished ends!
Biotin: Your body can absorb 5000 mcg a day. My favorite brand is Solgar. This is a must-have vitamin for fast-growing and healthy hair (skin & nails)!
For the Guys
American Crew's Pomade: A high-shine product that provides a modern, flexible alternative to styling gel. It brings control to any hair type.
Want a little less shine? Go with American Crew Molding Clay. Its concentrated styling power lets you manipulate hair into any style with a more "matte" finish.
And lastly, remember, a healthier inside makes for a better outside!
