The J-E-T-S Chant, created by Season Ticket Holders "back in the day" at Shea Stadium, is the best fan tradition in the NFL. And now Season Ticket Holders have asked us to help them find and select eight Season Ticket Holders from among them to lead the J-E-T-S Chant at each regular-season home game in 2014.
These leaders are special and rare fans who can quiet the crowd, let the tension build until just the right moment, and then cue Jets Nation to scream that glorious chant in unison. To help find those special Season Ticket Holders, we've created an online destination where potential J-E-T-S Chant leaders can show their stuff.
As a Season Ticket Holder, you can enter yourself, or nominate somebody else*. Just provide the following materials in the online form:
■ Your contact information and your Season Ticket Holder Account Number.
■ A video of you, or the person you're nominating, leading the Chant. Video must be no longer than 15 seconds.
■ One to two sentences on why you, or the person you're nominating, would be a great leader of the Chant. If it's a nomination, include the full name of the person you're nominating.
If you need some assistance in making a video, we'll have a booth set up at the Season Ticket Holders-only training camp practice at the Atlantic Health Jets Training Center on Aug. 18, and also at the Jets Family Night at Hofstra on Aug. 21. Bring your own camera or phone.
Season Ticket Holders have already received a submission form by email.
We'll review the submissions and create a short list that all fans can vote on at newyorkjets.com. Voting will run from Aug. 26–29. Then we'll tally the votes and notify the selected individuals no later than Sept. 2.
