This week is the NFL's equivalent of the calm before the storm. That storm, of course, would be free agency, set to begin this Tuesday, March 11.
That's not to say that GM John Idzik and the Jets haven't been busy this week though. On Wednesday, we beefed up our cornerback depth chart by re-signing two would-have-been free agents (Ellis Lankster and Darrin Walls) and claiming Johnny Patrick off of waivers from the Chargers.
Lankster has been one of the Green & White's most dynamic players on special teams the past couple of seasons, while Walls played in all 16 games and even started three during the '13 campaign. Patrick played with RB Bilal Powell at Louisville and was selected one round ahead of him (third and fourth) in the 2011 NFL Draft.
