Ainge, Chatman Placed on IR

The New York Jets announced today that quarterback Erik Ainge and running back Jesse Chatman have been placed on the Injured Reserve list. The announcement was made by Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum.

Ainge (6'5", 221), who has a right foot injury, was the Jets' 2008 fifth-round selection out of Tennessee. He was inactive for all seven games this season.

Ainge finished his UT career completing 733 of 1,210 passes (60.6 percent) for 8,700 yards, 72 touchdowns and 35 interceptions in 46 games (35 starts).

Chatman (5'8", 225), who has a left knee injury, was in his sixth NFL season. He played in three games for the Jets this season, gaining 8 yards on five carries and 5 yards on two receptions and logging five special teams tackles. He signed with the Jets on March 11.
