The New York Jets have signed free agent defensive tackle Martin Tevaseu. The announcement was made by Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum.
Tevaseu (6'2", 325), was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Cleveland Browns on May 17 and was waived on June 15. He played defensive tackle for two seasons at the University of Nevada-Las Vegas. He played in 24 games, made 48 tackles and recorded two sacks.
Tevaseu earned the Defensive MVP award for his team as a senior and participated in the East-West Shrine Game. Prior to his time at UNLV, Tevaseu spent two seasons at Santa Rosa Junior College.
