The New York Jets have released DE Eric Hicks and T Adrian Jones. The announcement was made by Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum.
Hicks (6'6", 280), a 10-year veteran, was signed as an unrestricted free agent from Kansas City on May 22. He appeared in 11 games this season, recording 23 tackles with eight solos. He was named the Jets practice player of the week after the Dec. 2 win at Miami.
Jones (6'5", 296), a fourth-round selection (132nd overall) in the 2004 NFL Draft, appeared in seven games this season and in 44 games in his Jets career, recording 16 starts — three at right tackle, 13 at left tackle.
