The Jets have activated DT Leki Fotu off injured reserve and released DL Jalyn Holmes. The team also elevated S Jalen Mills and TE Anthony Firkser from the practice squad to the active roster. Both players will revert to the practice squad after Monday night's game against the Bills.

Fotu (6-5, 335) was placed on injured reserve with a hamstring ailment to start the season. He signed with the Jets in the offseason after he played the last four seasons with the Cardinals and totaled 2.5 sacks, 28 tackles and 5 tackles for loss in 11 games last season. Fotu, drafted by Arizona out of Utah in the fourth round in 2020, played in 45 games (12 starts) and recorded 1 sack, 3 pass defenses, 61 tackles, 7 tackles for loss and 5 QB hits over his first four seasons.

Holmes (6-5, 283) began the season on the practice squad before he was signed to the active roster when the team placed Jermaine Johnson on injured reserve. Holmes has taken 103 defensive snaps in five games this season and has 4 tackles. He was originally drafted by the Vikings in the fourth round out of Ohio State in 2018 and spent four seasons there before a stint with the Saints (2021) and Bears (2022).

Mills (6-0, 200) signed with the Jets P-squad Sep. 24 after he spent the last three seasons with the Patriots and started in 34 of the 43 games he appeared in. A seventh-round pick out of LSU in 2016, Mills played the first five seasons of his career with the Eagles where he overlapped with Jets GM Joe Douglas. With Philadelphia, Mills started in 49 of the 63 games he played in, and totaled 5 interceptions, 40 pass defenses, 1 forced fumble and 283 tackles.

Firkser (6-2, 246) joined the Jets for training camp and was elevated for Week 1 against the 49ers where he took 1 snap on offense and 9 on special teams. He first signed with the Green & White as an undrafted free agent out of Harvard in 2017, but his first professional game action came with the Titans in 2018 where he played through the '21 season. Over his five-year career, Firkser has played in 71 games (4 starts) and totaled 115 receptions for 1,207 yards and 5 touchdowns.
