The Jets have signed S Jalen Mills to the active roster and placed OL Xavier Newman on injured reserve. The team also signed OL Alec Lindstrom to the practice squad and opened the practice window for TE Kenny Yeboah.
Mills (6-0, 200) signed with the Jets P-squad Sept. 24 and was elevated for each of the last two games, including last week at Pittsburgh where he started. He's taken 74 snaps on defense and 10 on special teams. He spent the last three seasons with the Patriots and started in 34 of the 43 games he appeared in. A seventh-round pick out of LSU in 2016, Mills played the first five seasons of his NFL career with the Eagles where he overlapped with Jets GM Joe Douglas. With Philadelphia, Mills started in 49 of the 63 games he played in, and totaled 5 interceptions, 40 pass defenses, 1 forced fumble and 283 tackles.
Newman (6-2, 297) sustained a neck injury against the Steelers and was carted off the field and transported to a local hospital before he flew home with the team. He first joined the Jets practice squad last season and before he was signed to the active roster. Newman, who originally signed with Tennessee as an undrafted free agent out of Baylor in 2022, has appeared in 14 games over the last two seasons for the Green & White and has taken 291 snaps on offense and 48 on special teams.
Lindstrom (6-3, 300) signed with the Green & White's practice squad Oct. 9 and was release Oct. 17. He first signed the Cowboys in 2022 as an undrafted free agent out of Boston College and spent his rookie season on Dallas' practice squad until he was placed on the P-squad/injured list that November. Lindstrom signed with the UFL's Memphis Showboats in January 2024 and had a stint in training camp with the Rams. He is the younger brother of Falcons two-time Pro Bowl OL Chris Lindstrom.
Yeboah (6-4, 250), who was placed on Injured Reserve on Aug. 27, sustained an injury in the preseason. He originally signed with the Jets as an undrafted free agent out of Mississippi in 2021 and has spent time on and off the team's practice squad. Yeboah has appeared in 24 career games and has 4 catches for 64 yards. He's taken 203 snaps on offense and 441 on special teams.
