The starters had a heavy workload in Monday's practice, the team's first since Saturday's preseason opener.

"With the twos and threes coming off the game Saturday, we pulled back on their reps, the ones, and we'll ramp them back up tomorrow," head coach Robert Saleh said.

The Jets continue to mix and match along their offensive line as they monitor the workload for LT Tyron Smith, RG Alijah Vera-Tucker and RT Morgan Moses. Saleh said last week that the team would eventually give rookie T Olu Fashanu reps at right tackle once he reached a certain level of comfort at left tackle.

Fashanu, who took 25 snaps against the Commanders on Saturday, saw his first action at right tackle on Monday.

"We tried him on the right side today and we'll do that for the next couple of weeks so he can get that balance between left and right," Saleh said.

He added about the Penn State product's preseason performance: "For rookies, there are always going to be things you can take away that are good, there are always going to be things he's going to have to improve on Looking forward to this second game because you'd like to see a big jump now that you have the first game out of the way. It's finding a way to improve, getting rid of the nerves and the jitterbugs if you will, but I thought he did really well."

Isaiah Davis Years Beyond His NFL Age
Situational football has been a focal point for the Jets throughout training camp.

On Monday, the team orchestrated a four-minute end-of game and two-minute end-of-half situation. In the four-minute session, the defense was down, 20-17, with one timeout remaining. The offense, set up on its 45-yard line, had to ice the game with a first down.

Aaron Rodgers and his group successfully converted as Rodgers got the defense to jump offside for a free play. Tyrod Taylor, on his first play, hit UDFA TE Lincoln Sefcik over the middle for a 25-yard catch-and-run up the sideline, but he stepped out of bounds and the defense did not have to burn its timeout.

On the next play, Taylor handed the ball to rookie RB Isaiah Davis, who saw traffic pile up on the left side of the line. He, like a seasoned vet, fluidly cut back to the right side where there was enough daylight to score. He slid after getting the first down instead.

"He's a very smart young man," HC Robert Saleh said. "There's a lot of things that he does not only in practice, but some things he showed in the game that are next-level thinking that you would expect from third- and fourth-year guys. He's a very smart young man – but football smart. There's a lot of things he does very well and looking forward to seeing how he continues to evolve."
