The New York Jets have signed cornerback Dwight Lowery, their fourth-round pick in the 2008 NFL Draft. The announcement was made by Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum.

Lowery (5'11", 201), the 114th overall pick of the draft, started all 25 games he played in at cornerback for San Jose State, intercepting 13 passes for 147 yards and one touchdown. He added 315 yards and a touchdown on 24 punt returns, deflected 14 passes, recovered three fumbles and posted 92 tackles (53 solos). A two-time All-Western Athletic Conference selection, he set a school record with nine interceptions in 2006.

Lowery spent his first two seasons at Cabrillo Junior College, where he intercepted 13 passes in 15 games as a free safety.
