The New York Jets have been awarded tight end Martrez Milner off waivers from the New York Giants and have waived offensive lineman Kyle Link and tight end Rob Myers. The announcements were made by Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum.
Milner (6'4", 260) entered the NFL as a fourth-round pick (133rd overall) by Atlanta in the 2007 draft. He played one season with the Falcons, playing in eight games with two starts and recording nine receptions for 50 yards. In 2008 he was inactive for Atlanta's first two games before he was waived Sept. 16.
Milner was signed to the Giants practice squad Sept. 23 and was with them until he was waived last Thursday.
Link (6'6", 300) signed with the Jets as an undrafted free agent May 1. He started his collegiate career at McNeese State as a tight end before converting to offensive tackle as a junior.
Myers (6'4", 240), who signed as an undrafted free agent May 1, caught 31 passes for 445 yards and three touchdowns in two seasons at Utah State.
