The New York Jets have signed linebacker Jason Trusnik to the active roster and have placed fullback Stacy Tutt on injured reserve. The announcement was made by Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum.
Trusnik (6'4", 250) signed with the Jets as an undrafted rookie free agent out of Ohio Northern on May 12. He was waived Sept. 1 and signed to the practice squad Sept. 3. He was named the Jets' practice player of the week after the Week 3 victory over Miami.
The Macedonia, Ohio, native is a two-time Division III All-American and a two-time All-Ohio Athletic Conference first-team selection who ended the 2006 season with 60 tackles and team-highs of 11 sacks and 19.5 tackles for loss. He is ONU's all-time career leader with 43 sacks and 85 tackles for loss.
Tutt (6'1", 233) was placed on IR with a right knee injury after being active for all nine games this season and recording seven special teams tackles. He was signed to the Jets active roster Dec. 16, 2006, and played two games last season.
The Fredricksburg, Va., native originally signed with the Jets as a rookie free agent out of Richmond on May 12, 2006, after coming in as an undrafted tryout player.
