Throughout the season, NewYorkJets.com provided a Stock Report focusing on the Jets' upcoming matchup.
This week's report features players and/or themes that are trending before the Green & White take on the Dolphins at MetLife Stadium in the season finale Sunday afternoon.
📈 Wide Receivers for Both Teams
Sunday's game will feature some of the best receiver duos in the league.
Jets WR Garrett Wilson, who is coming off a game with 7 catches, 66 yards and a touchdown, needs 3 receptions to reach 100 for the first time in his NFL career.
Wilson had 7 catches for 114 yards against the Dolphins in South Florida in Week 14. He faced press coverage on 59.5% of his routes (25 of 42) in that matchup, his second-highest press rate faced in a game this season.
The 2022 first-round pick has seen press coverage on a career-high 39.7% of his routes this season, the second-highest press rate among wide receivers with at least 200 routes. Wilson's 436 yards against press are the second most in the NFL.
Opposite Wilson is Davante Adams, who needs 25 yards to reach 1,000 and had 109 yards and a touchdown in Week 14 against the Dolphins.
Miami's leading receiver is Tyreek Hill, who is having a down season by his standards, helped the ''Fins keep their playoff hopes alive last week at Cleveland with a 20-3 win. Hill had 9 receptions, his second-most in a game this season, and 105 yards. It was his third game he had at least 100 yards this season.
Jaylen Waddle, who did not play in Week 17 because of a knee injury, had 9 catches for 99 yards against the Jets earlier this season.
📈 Isaiah Davis and the Jets Running Game
Jets rookie RB Isaiah Davis took 14 snaps on offense in Week 17 and had 3 rushes for 35 yards (11.7 average). All went for first downs and he also had 1 catch for 8 yards.
The fifth-round pick out of South Dakota State, who had his first career rushing score when these teams played in Week 14, also took 16 snaps on special teams and led the unit with 2 tackles. He also had a 29-yard kick return.
The Jets ran for 112 yards on 21 carries last week for an average of 5.3 yards per rush. Breece Hall led the way with 45 yards on 10 rushes.
📉 Injuries
Both teams are dealing with a handful of injuries among their starters.
Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel said the team is trending towards playing QB Tyler Huntley for Tua Tagovailoa (hip) for a second-straight week. Huntley played well in Week 17 and threw for 225 yards, 1 touchdown and 0 interceptions while completing 84.6% of his passes. Huntley, who made the Pro Bowl in 2022, however, did not complete a pass of at least 20 yards down the field.
Miami could be without its left tackle, Terron Armstead (knee), and is now without its top two right tackles. Kendall Lamm, who had been playing for starter Austin Jackson, joined Jackson on injured reserve Wednesday.
The Jets, down their starting two left tackles (Tyron Smith, Olu Fashanu), could be without starting right tackle Morgan Moses, who has been battling a knee injury and did not practice Wednesday. Interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich said he's hopeful Moses and Alijah Vera-Tucker, who did not practice with an ankle injury, will play on Sunday.
📉 Penalties
The Jets and Dolphins were the two most penalized teams in Week 17. They combined for 27 infractions for 214 yards.
"That starts and ends with me," IHC Jeff Ulbrich said of the team's penalties following their 40-14 loss at Buffalo. "I've got to do a better job of making sure that it doesn't happen, but there's a stronger understanding of why that can't happen. You can't overcome that against a team like Buffalo that's rolling right now, playing elite football. It killed us, got us behind the sticks multiple times, extended drives for them on offense. Not good enough.
"I have not communicated that well enough. The impact of some of these penalties, you've got to do what's right for the team over what's right for you in that moment and we're losing touch with that."
