Throughout the season, NewYorkJets.com will provide a Stock Report focusing on the Jets' upcoming matchup.
This week's report features players and/or themes that are trending before the Green & White take on the Texans at MetLife Stadium on Thursday night.
📈 Breece Hall and Joe Mixon
Thursday's game will feature a pair of the NFL's best all-purpose backs in Jets RB Breece Hall and Texans RB Joe Mixon.
Hall's 399 scrimmage yards in Weeks 6-8 lead the NFL and Mixon ranks No. 3 in that span with 390.
Hall, who totaled 126 yards (40 rushing, 86 receiving) and a touchdown in last season's 30-6 Jets win over the Texans at MetLife, leads all running backs this season with 316 receiving yards.
Mixon, in his first year with Houston after seven with Cincinnati, has done most of his damage on the ground. He has 503 rushing yards and has eclipsed 100 yards in four of the five games he's played this season. The Pro Bowl back sustained an ankle injury in Week 2 after he played 29 snaps and missed Weeks 3-5.
📈 Quinnen Williams
Jets All-Pro defensive tackle Quinnen Williams is coming off his most productive game of the season with 1.5 sacks, 2 QB hits and a tackle for loss.
After generating 8 pressures through the first four weeks of the season, the two-time Pro Bowler has since generated 15 pressures, which is tied for second among defensive tackles in that span. The No. 3 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft has generated 6 of those pressures under 2.5 seconds, tied for the second most among interior D-linemen since Week 5. Houston's interior O-linemen have allowed 79 pressures this season, which is the fourth most in the NFL.
📉 Pressure Up Front
While the Jets rank No. 6 in the NFL with 23 sacks, their pressure numbers have dipped. Entering Week 8, the Green & White had the third-highest pressure rate (40.1%) in Weeks 1-5 and No. 14 (37.7%) in Weeks 6-7.
Texans star QB C.J. Stroud is accustomed to playing under duress and he's been pressured on 40.7% of his dropbacks, which is the fourth-highest mark in the NFL. Stroud was pressured on a career-high 57.5% of his dropbacks against the Colts last Sunday and completed 11-of-21 passes (52.3%) under pressure for 148 yards and a touchdown.
📉 Injuries for the Texans WRs
The Texans are battling injuries at wide receiver. Nico Collins, who led the NFL with 567 receiving yards before he sustained a hamstring injury in Week 5, was placed on injured reserve Oct. 9 and will be out Thursday. Houston ranked No. 1 in passing yards per game in Weeks 1-5 with Collins in the lineup, but he's been sidelined since.
The Texans' No. 2 receiver, Stefon Diggs, who was acquired via trade in the offseason, sustained a torn ACL injury last Sunday. Second-year player Tank Dell, who was on pace to eclipse 1,000 receiving yards as a rookie last season before he broke his leg, is now C.J. Stroud's top target. Dell has 24 receptions, 229 yards and 2 touchdowns this season after he totaled 709 yards and 7 scores on 47 catches his first season.
