Jets Practice Report | Offense 'Precise' in Red Zone as Aaron Rodgers Throws 6 Touchdowns

Breece Hall Has 2 Red Zone Scores; Malachi Corley Has Another Impressive Practice

Aaron Rodgers and the Jets offense had its best practice since the pads came on as Rodgers tossed six touchdown passes Wednesday including three to WR Garrett Wilson.

"I thought 5 (Wilson) had a real good day," Rodgers said. "He had a couple routes that kind of were 'wow' plays and got everybody going offensively."

Rodgers and Wilson bookended practice with scores as they found paydirt in each of the first two team periods, which were both red-zone periods, and on Rodgers' final snap in practice, which came in the red zone move-the-ball period.

The Rodgers-Wilson connection has been strong throughout training camp, but the Rodgers-Breece Hall connection has heated up in the pass game. Wednesday, they combined for two scores including the first play of the move-the-ball period where Hall was wide open in the middle of the end zone.

"What he's shown talent wise out of the backfield is pretty impressive," Rodgers said. "If you look at some of the plays he ran today, it says a lot when your bell cow running back is No. 1 in the progression on red zone routes. A lot of credit goes to him."

Quarterbacks Tyrod Taylor, Andrew Peasley and Adrian Martinez all led scoring drives in the early portions of practice, too.

"It was a really cool session on both sides," HC Robert Saleh said. "Offense was very precise. Defensive, leverage wise, just off by a hair. When you're dealing with quarterbacks as experienced as Tyrod and Aaron, they're going to make you pay on the slightest lack of efficiency."

Malachi Corley Pops
Jets third-round pick Malachi Corley has put together impressive back-to-back practices.

Tuesday, he reeled in an Aaron Rodgers pass one-handed down the sideline and managed to keep both feet in bounds. Wednesday, Rodgers and Corley combined for a touchdown towards the middle-left of the end zone where Corley jumped and twisted to secure the pass with Brandin Echols in coverage.

"It was a great throw by A-Rod," Corley said. "Really laid it out there and let me have an opportunity to make a play on the ball."

Corley added: "I think that I'm getting to a point where I'm very confident the playbook and I think that my coaching staff is starting to see that as well. Giving me more opportunities, putting me out there with the ones, let me get some more run with A-Rod and putting in some specifically designed plays for me to be able to use my skill set and show off with what they drafted me for -- being able to be a physical receiver and get the ball in flats and take them long distances and stuff like that. So I think I'm in a really comfortable spot in the playbook and they really start to see that."

Corley, known as the "YAC King" as Western Kentucky, barreled his way into the end zone earlier in practice on a short pass from Andrew Peasley.

"With a couple receivers being down, with Allen [Lazard] being managed today, it gave Corley an opportunity to get more and without looking at the tape, I felt him on the football field," head coach Robert Saleh said. "He had a really productive day."
