Jets head coach Robert Saleh was impressed with the team's focus in its first training camp practice of the year on Wednesday.
"Last offseason was all the hype machine and all that good stuff where this year, guys are locked in," Saleh said. "There's a different feel. I can't put my thumb on it to try to explain it, but it's definitely a different feel."
He added: "It's a lot calmer. Guys have a much more business-like approach."
The Green & White may be off and running, but they're still in the acclimation period, which refers to the first four practices of training camp that are without pads and follow the same contact rules as Phase 3 of the offseason program.
"Today is a 90-minute practice, tomorrow is a little bit longer," Saleh said. "Then the next day is a full two hours for the final two days of acclimation. Then you get your day off and you roll into pads.
"We have to get rolling and I think the guys did a really nice job coming in shape."

Familiar Connection
Aaron Rodgers and Allen Lazard bookended Wednesday's practice.
Lazard, in his second year with the Jets, caught Rodgers' first pass of team periods and Rodgers' first touchdown pass of training camp, which closed the session. The score came in a red zone team period as Rodgers rolled left to buy time and fired a strike to Lazard, who used his 6-5 reach to secure the pass before he fell to the ground and celebrated.
"I've said it before, he's not the first or the last free agent in the NFL who will struggle in his first year with a new team," Robert Saleh said. "New atmosphere, new money, new environment, coaches, teammates. Sometimes guys get out of whack. Once all that comes down, they find a way to bounce back in their second year and I think he's going to do that. He's been locked in, he looks good, he's phenomenal with his teammates in the meeting room. Excited to see how he progresses throughout training camp."
Young Corners Flash
A pair of young corners stood out in Wednesday's practice -- second-year player Jarrick Bernard-Converse and rookie Qwan'tez Stiggers.
After an impressive spring, Bernard-Converse, drafted in the sixth round out of LSU in 2023, broke up Tyrod Taylor's short pass intended for WR Irvin Charles near the sideline.
"We had him at safety initially, moved him to corner this offseason," Saleh said. "Smart, young man. Athletic, long. He grinded back from his injury and you just see him slowly making progress, gaining confidence."
Stiggers had the first interception of training camp when he plucked an Austin Peasley pass down the sideline.
"The stuff we talk about in the meeting room, they translate it to the field and go out there and make plays," Sauce Gardner said of the young CBs.
